WHAT DOES A POSTNATAL DOULA DO?

A postnatal doula is a friendly face who comes into the home when you need her and gives you a helping hand so you can do things like sleep, eat, have a bath and spend time with your new baby, bonding and breastfeeding.  The doula will take her cues from you but usually it means keeping the housework down and an eye on any older children.  Most mothers appreciate having space and a chat with someone who can empathize and understands the pressures of being a new mum.
